about

Originally released on CD in 1999 -- and recorded off and on between 1994 and 1998 -- 'Way Out East' is Bruce Maclean's second proper studio album as Link Montana, but this time credited alongside his band of the era, the Roamin' Catholics (Rikki Bates, Geoffrey Morris, John Sciascia, Ed Sheridan, and Dick Wetmore). The album was co-produced by Maclean and Bates, at 204 Main Street in East Orleans, MA. The '99 release contained mostly originals, with some covers (by P.F. Sloan, Lennon/McCartney, Bob Dylan, others). Most of that tracklist has been carried over for this reissue, and complimented by a whopping six bonus tracks, all culled from an earlier draft of 'Way Out East' (that would have resulted in a 25-track album). Those include covers of Matt Goldman's "Top of the Hill," Michael Nesmith's "Nine Times Blue," "The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise," and three originals: "More Than a Little," "Unlike Will Rogers," and the instrumental, long lost "West Yarmouth Concerto."
