about

Originally released in 1991, 'Link Montana' represented Bruce Maclean's debut full-length (under the Link Montana moniker), a follow-up to the 1988 cassette-only 'Redneck Beach.' It was recorded in its entirety at the original (and present) Maclean Studio, on 10 Deerwood Ln. in Orleans, MA. It was co-produced with Rikki Bates and Geoffrey Patterson in a basement, during the first Gulf War, and recorded on 1-inch 16-track tape. The album consists of mostly originals or co-writes, with a handful of covers (Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan, etc.). This reissue pares down some of the excesses of the original track list though leaves the disc's early experiments in found sound and sampling in tact. There are no known outtakes from the era.
